About L&W Bedding
THE EARLY YEARS
John Wheatly, owner and operator of L&W Bedding, taught himself how to build mattresses in the late 70s and the early 80s. In 1988, at just 17-years-old, he decided to go out on his own when he purchased a sewing machine and made customized mattresses for hospitals and nursing homes. After working out of his garage, he opened his first store in Moline, Illinois. Shortly after, he added a second location in Bettendorf, Iowa, to further establish his custom-made mattress brand.
L&W BEDDING’S MATTRESS MISSION & PROCESS
Our mission is to create mattresses and box springs complete with comfort, support, and durability in our made-to-fit custom designs to give you the best sleep of your life. We stand behind our products, providing each customer with an honest, informative, no-pressure buying experience. Beginning the process is simple: schedule an appointment at one of our two showrooms, and allow our knowledgeable staff to walk you through our products, discussing and educating you on what makes our mattresses stand out from the competition. Once you find the right mattress, we begin creating your made-to-order mattress-piece. Your mattress will be ready within a week to 10 days of purchase, depending on the style and make you choose. No matter what, you get quality craftsmanship from start to finish.

We’re a local, Mom & Pop store and we take great pride in what is sold under our name in order to give you a mattress that is high-quality, handmade, and custom-fit to you. We care about the needs of each individual, understanding that everyone sleeps and reacts to materials differently. When we create a mattress, we take these individual needs into consideration, ensuring it’s made right the first time or we’ll make it right. We craft each mattress for longevity to provide you with numerous years of truly great, restful sleep.
